Annika Feng
President
Annika Feng (she/her) is a fourth year astrophysics major and our President. She transferred from San Diego Mesa College last year and identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities. Last year, she loved the game nights including karaoke and Kahoot. Annika is looking forward to a year full of meaningful, fun events. Chat with her about dancing, KonMari organization, and her cat Stella!
Elizabeth Diordiev
External Vice President
Elizabeth Diordiev is the External Vice President of SPS. She is a 4th year Astrophysics major and her favorite SPS event was the Science Slam! This was hosted at an elementary school where a group of SPS leadership demonstrated the Van der Graaf Generator at a science fair. She loves to dance and the ocean.
Karen Clark
Acting Internal Vice President
Karen Clark (she/her) is a third-year physics major and is our Acting Internal Vice President. She is highly interested in nuclear engineering and physics research, and is currently a member of Professor Alvine Kamaha's research group. She also conducts research for Sandia National Laboratories' Applied Nuclear Technologies organization. In addition to SPS, Karen serves as an officer for Sigma Pi Sigma and Women+ in the Physical Sciences. She greatly enjoyed our Undergraduate Research Fair event last year, as it allowed for a great opportunity for undergrads to both share their research and hear about other student's!
Adam Janik
Professional Events Chair
Adam is a 2nd year physics major who will be our Professional Events Chair for this year! His favourite SPS events were always professor talks, so he is so excited to be organizing such events this year. In his spare time he sings in an A capella group and surfs.
Connor Engel
Professional Events Chair
Connor is a third-year undergrad and is the professional events chair. He currently works as a research assistant in Professor Qianhui Shi’s laboratory, where he contributes to condensed matter physics. My favorite SPS event is physics PROM.
Aiden Gavin
Secretary
Aiden is a second-year physics major and is the Secretary of SPS. This is his second year on the board, and his favorite SPS event has been the Physics P.R.O.M. Aside from physics, Aiden enjoys poker, frisbee, and he plays the quad drums in the UCLA marching band.
Catherin Merida
Outreach Chair
Catherin is a 4th-year Physics major and Science education minor serving as one of the outreach chairs. Her favorite SPS event is PI day (she really loves pie)!! Outside of school she loves arts and crafts, playing video games on VC and visiting her friends!
Yubin Kim
Outreach Chair
Yubin (she/her) is one of the Outreach Chairs. She is a second-year physics major. She loves reading, journaling, and talking a walk with friends. Her favorite SPS event is a welcome picnic from her freshman year.
Olivia Hugh
Community Events Chair
Hi! My name is olivia and I'm a second year physics + applied math major. I'm a part of the community events chair, and being in this role for the second year has definitely let me experience so many fun events. One of my favorite memories was the SPS fundrager last fall, or the arts and crafts night we had last year.
Kian Anvari Totonchi
Social Media Officer
Kian is a second-year Materials Engineering major and Iranian Studies minor from San Jose, California who will be serving as your Social Media officer for SPS this year!! Their favorite SPS event was definitely the Large Plasma Device lab tour as they not only got to view physics equipment up close but even walk inside of it!! When he isn’t attempting to work (and instead making conversation) in the physics lounge, he loves listening to experimental and electronic music, collecting crystals, and consuming too much candy!!
Nicole Everage
Social Chair
Nicole Everage is a third year Astrophysics major who loves being one of the Social Chairs for SPS! Outside SPS, Nicole is a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Sigma Pi Sigma Professional Fraternity, and Model UN. When not buried in schoolwork, Nicole likes to draw, paint and read, as well as hike and spend time with her friends!
Cathleen Qiao
Webmaster
Cathleen (she/her) is the Webmaster for SPS! She is a third-year computer science and physics student, and enjoys reading webtoons, going on late night walks, and climbing trees! Her favorite SPS event is Physics PROM!
